“How about we grab umbrellas and try it?”

“Yesssssss,” I thought. We were debating whether or not to scrap our original plan and go to a backup because of a SUPER rainy forecast for the day. Like one of those Washington steady-rain-blanket-of-gray type days. A day when most would probably say, “forget it.” But I strongly believe meaning trumps perfection and a little adventure is good for the soul. I’m glad these two agreed and were up for braving the cold and rain for their maternity session at Snoqualmie Falls!

Both born and raised Ohioans, Anna and Joel moved to the Seattle area for a job right after getting married 3 1/2 years ago. They quickly fell in love with this stunning waterfall and the lodge that overlooks it. I’m pretty sure anyone who makes the trek to visit them gets taken here! It is an amazing spot to show off their beautiful new state and I hope it is always a symbol for them of this time in their family story!

We started the session up at the viewpoint with the misty hills in the background. Then, there was a glorious break in the heavy rain for us to enjoy the lower viewpoint and paths! To finish up, we had a few minutes of just sprinkling by the river for some gorgeous shots. I think my favorite, though, are at the end when the rain picked up and they bundled up to explore the shore and kiss in the rain!

This gray day gave us nothing but color and brightness! Beautiful Anna’s glow and darling plum dress and Joel’s adoring smile probably helped with that too…! We love you two and can’t wait to meet your little love in January!!!
